Another series of E3 gaming press conferences have wrapped up and I have caught up on most of them, figure doing a quick word dump about some of the things I liked from the big press conferences. Overall, I thought most the conferences were ok, nothing really special or at least not a lot that got me excited. However, rather than go on about the negatives I think E3 had this year, I will ramble about what I like about E3 and share my thoughts on some games.
First up is Ori and the Will of the Wisp. Now I haven’t had a chance to play Ori and the Blind Forest, but it is a game who’s art style I love looking at and I have heard several good things from other people so I am happy that the game did well enough for it get a sequel and hopefully I will get to around to both games in the near future. One of the many indie titles that was announced during the conference, Spiritfarer is one I am interested in. You play as a young child who must use their boat to take spirits to spot so they can cross over to the other side. You will be able to expand your boat to fit different needs and it looks like it will be a good chill time. RPG Time: Legend of Wright is another indie looking game that looks like an off brand creative game. So, it looks like you play an RPG game through someone’s notebook and other crafted projects around the story they are building. Based on the trailer, I am hoping it is a fun and unique experience. Staying with indie games, 12 minutes looks like it could be an intense experience. Based on the trailer, it looks like you might play out several sequence of events that occur in the next 12 minutes and it will several different outcomes. Not a lot shown so I am curious to see how many scenarios there will actually be. Another title I say that looks like fun is Way to the Woods. Apparently, this title has been in development for awhile and is finally coming close to being released. This game focuses on 2 deer trying to make their way back to the woods and overcoming the challenges they will face.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be an action RPG that will retail the story of Goku from Dragon Ball Z. I do enjoy some of these anime-based games, because they give me another way to enjoy the stories from the anime and manga. Hoping this game is good and curious on how far into Dragon Ball Z story they plan to tell or what other adventures of Goku and crew are they going to tell. One of the few things I enjoyed from the Bethesda conference was a new title from the people who made Dishonor. Deathloop focuses 2 people who are stuck in a time loop and they are trying to change the loop they are in but killing the other. I’m interested to see how they will tell this story and if there are any fun mechanics to mess this. The game Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout, looks to be a fun 100-person party game. No game play but it looked like it could be a fun time where you try to be the last person standing after some hopefully fun minigames.
The last series of games I am looking forward to came from the Nintendo Press Conference. Staring with Luigi Mansion 3 and to simply put it, it looks like fun. I have played a bit of one of the previous games and think it looks like a fun time and has an 8-player co-op mode which looks to be some simple fun. Next up is Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and as someone that is new to the Legend of Zelda franchise it will be interesting to jump into this remake of a classic game without prior knowledge. I like the art style it is going with and the build your own dungeon to gain some rewards looks like it could be fun. Astral Chain just looks like it could be a crazy fun game and with the capture mechanic used to partner up with Legions hopefully there will be a plenty of Legions to partner up with to give a lot of variety of gameplay. This game is one that just clicked with me and I can’t wait to play more. This will be the last game I talk about with an actual release date. Empire of Sin looks to be another game I am hoping to have a fun and unique experience with. It looks to combine personal management with tactics combat. You will have to manage your terrorist and crew to keep things working like a fine machine and I have grown to enjoy tactics combat more over the years so I am hoping this game is good. The last that just actually had me excited was the announcement of a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel. I really enjoyed Breath of the Wild and since it is the first complete Zelda experience it has claim a special place in my heart and I was also surprised to see the sequel announced and I am so ready to go back into that version of Hyrule and explore maybe more of the history and some of the darker parts of Hyrule.
That was some of my favorite parts of E3 and I know I didn’t talk about some of the bigger names such as Gears 5 and Cyberpunk 2077 but those games are my cup of tea. I still want them to succeed for that fans of those games and I may get to them at some point but I will more than likely get through the list above. Hopefully you found something to be excited about from all the E3 news. Thank you for reading this post and Stay tune for more random thoughts around gaming and such and have a great morning/day/evening.
