Trailer Talk: Volume 2

This week for Trailer Talk I will go over some more recent trailers and one trailer just because I can. On the last Trailer Talk I link to the game or developer’s website if you wanted more information and for this one, I will instead just link to the trailer I watched, to make it easier to reference the trailer I am talking about. With that out of the way let’s start with a look at Empire of Sin.

Empire of Sin is a strategy game that takes place in Chicago during the 1920’s. The player’s goal is to become the top mob boss through any means necessary. So even though the trailer didn’t show much, but I am curious on how it will play. Based on a couple of shots during the trailer it looks like combat might be turn base similar to X-Com and maybe there will some property and resource management. Strategy games have always been a hit and miss for me but I am interested to see how this one turns out. The game has a release date of spring 2020, like everything else, and look will be released for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. You can watch the announcement trailer, by clicking here.

Now going from 1920’s gang wars to something a bit more light hearted. Spiritfarer whose art style and story may to some not match up. As stated in the description of the trailer “Spiritfarer is a cozy management game about dying” and as this ferry master you must build and modify your boat to care for your spirit friends as you guide them to a spot where they can finally cross over to the afterlife. I suspect that there will be mainly feels during the play through of this game as you must care for these spirits and will grow closer to them, just to have to say goodbye once their journey is complete. One thing I am curious about is if there will be any punishments for poor management, will the spirits not be able to cross over if you take too long? The art style and concept are what got my attention and even though I have to wait until some time in 2020, it does give time to think about whether I will play this on Xbox One, PS4, Switch or Steam. It will probably be Switch but if you want to see the announcement trailer for see what I am talking about, click here.

So, the next trailer I want to talk about just came out at the time I am writing this. One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows was announce and I’ll be honest I got some mix feelings. On one hand, I’m happy to see an Anime that appears to be loved by many get a video game based on it. However, it looks like its going to be another 3 vs. 3 fighting game, which if you are a fan of both this will be great for you. The other part is how do they plan to balance out Saitama. During the trailer, they showed him being attack but he wasn’t responding much to the hits. Now this game doesn’t have a release date so there is a lot of time to flush it out but I am a bit worry this will just be loop of cut scene and then a fight. I get this is normal for fight game and maybe I was a bit hopeful that we get more of an adventure game and explore the world as Saitama and just wreck shop. Anyway, I am interesting to see how this turns out and if you wanting to see the trailer, click here.

For the last trailer, this one came out last July and I have been waiting to hear more about it since I first saw the trailer. The tone the teaser trailer for Digimon Survive has be excited for this new game. I really enjoyed Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and Hacker’s Memory, but Digimon Survive appears to be a tile base strategy game, but what I am curious about is how they will handle ‘survive’ part. Will it just be permadeath with your party or will they include branching story lines based on your choices. I’m just excited about more Digimon so I will probably pick this up. As far as I know it still has a 2019 release time frame but if it gets delayed, then it gets delayed. If you are interested to see the trailer for Digimon Survive, click here.

That completes another week of Trailer Talk, hopefully there is a trailer for you or someone you know. Thank you for reading this post and Stay tune for more random thoughts around gaming and such and have a great morning/day/evening.
