Deck Theory: Yellow Royal Knight Deck Profile (Digimon TCG)

Welcome to another Deck Theory post, a series where I go through my collection and try to make a somewhat descent deck and this is one of 2 Deck Theories for Digi-cember. Last time I made a deck focus on some of the Bancho Digimon and this time I went on the “holy” side and made a deck focus on a couple of the Royal Knights.

The focus points of this Yellow deck is using the security stack as a source of resources by having abilities that allow you to look through the stack and gain memory and shift DP when a card is removed from it. For the royal knight side, I picked LordKnightmon and Dynasmon as they were one of the first Royal Knights Digimon that I was introduced to. So with that lets look at the list of cards needed for this deck.

Deck Breakdown

Digi-Egg Cards:

Splitting the Digi-Egg deck between Pickmon and Nyaromon.

Pickmon can be used to weaken your opponents Digimon if you keep your side of the field filled with Digimon. Nyaromon is used to power up any Digimon in your Security Stack to help give them a fighting chance against your opponents attack.

Level 3 Digimon Cards:

For level 3 Digimon, I went with Kotemon, Tapirmon and Starmons.

Kotemon will be used to try to get up to 2 Warrior or Holy Warrior in your hand for future Digivolutions.

Tapirmon has the effect if a card is removed from your security stack you can draw a card. There will be other Digimon and Options and will help activate this effect during your turn.

Starmons have the “On play” effect lowering 1 of your opponents DP by 1000 per Digimon you have in play. On of many cards used to weaken your opponents Digimon.

Level 4 Digimon Cards:

The feature blocker of this deck is Piddomon and that is it just like having a blocker in my decks.

Gladimon is the first example of using the security stack as a resources. When played on the field, search your security stack for 1 Digimon card with Warrior or Holy Warrior in its type, reveal it and add it to your add then trigger Recovery +1. Recovery +x is when you take the top card of your deck and place it on the top of your security stack. Combine this with Tapirmon inherited effect you can add 2 cards to your hand for free and hopefully get what you need.

Wizardmon has an inherited effect of when a card is removed from your security stack, you gain 1 memory, so another one that will benefit from peaking into your security stack.

Level 5 Digimon Cards:

Only two level 5 Digimon for this deck, Knightmon when it is played on the field one of your opponents Digimon DP lowers by 4000.

Mistymon has an inherited effect of when you remove a card from your security stack 1 of your opponent’s Digimon losses 2000 DP.

Level 6 Digimon Cards:

Now it is time for main stars of deck: LordKnightmon and Dynasmon.

LordKnightmon will be used to add more Digimon to your field as every time it attacks you can play either a yellow level 3 or a yellow Warrior type Digimon card without paying it’s memory cost and while it is one the field, it gains 1000 DP for each Digimon you have in play.

For Dynasmon, when you digivolve into this Digimon you can trash the top card on your security stack to reveal the top 6 cards of your deck and add up to 2 Level 6 or lower Digimon among them to your hand and then trash the rest of the cards. The other effect is when a card is removed from your security stack when you have 3 or fewer security cards your can use Recovery +1.

Special Digimon Cards:

The last of the Digimon in the deck are the Sistermon that were in the Double Diamond set. Sistermon Blanc will give all other Sistermon the block effect if you have a Huckmon or Royal Knight in play and when you play this card you can draw 1 card. Sistermon Ciel, gives Huckmon or Royal Knight Digimon a 2000 DP boost and when you play it you gain 1 memory. Nice couple of cards for boosting your Digimon on the field.

Option Cards:

Starting with Blinding Ray, you can trash the top card in your security stack to gain to memory which can be combine with Digimon effects that give you resources when cards are removed from the security stack on your turn.

Spiral Masquerade allow you to lower one of your opponents Digimon by 3000 and this effect is activated for each Digimon you have in play so in theory you can target several Digimon or stack on one.

Reinforcing Memory Boost is used look at the top 2 cards on your deck and add 1 to your security stack and the other to your hand and then gain 3 memory.

Lastly, Meteor Shower allows you to play 1 yellow Digimon with Starmon in it’s name and if you play Starmons that allows you to activate it’s effect and lower one of your opponents Digimon power.

Tamers Cards:

Now on to Tamer Cards, starting with Tai Kamiya to either give your Digimon a boost in power and if you can delete an opponent Digimon by lowering its DP to 0 you can gain 1 memory.

T.K. Takaishi will ensure you start each turn with at least 3 memory and if needed you can look at your security stack and add 1 card to your hand and if it is yellow, trigger Recovery +1.

The last tamer is T.K. Takaishi & Kari Kamiya, allows you at the start of your turn if you have less security cards then your opponent, to gain 2 memory. Also on your turn, when one of your yellow Digimon attacks, you can suspend this Tamer and lower 1 of your opponent’s Digimon power by 1000. A good tool to deal with a blocker or when trying to attack one of your opponent’s Digimon.

Conclusion

Hopefully this deck with stay on your good side as you use it to annoy your opponents. Another note about this deck is you won’t really rely a lot of digivolving as there are a lot of ‘On play’ effects to deal with but with the trade off of weakening your opponent. As always, if you have any questions about how certain cards work or about the rules in general, I recommend you go to the official website (link here) to hopefully find your answer. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully this will give some people some ideas of a type of deck you want to build or not build. Until next time; Stay Safe, Be Kind and Game On!
