Deck Theory: Green Tornado Deck Profile (Digimon TCG)

Welcome to another Deck Theory post, a series where I go through my collection and try to make a somewhat descent deck. Today we are exploring more cards from the EX02 set and building a green Terriermon deck I’ve dubbed: Green Tornado.

Focus on this deck is to one; make a deck with one my favorite Digimon and it’s Digivolutions and two; play more with the green suspending the opponents Digimon to gain extra power and using some of the new cards to help making Digivolution a bit cheaper to help get the more powerful mon on the field.

Deck List

Digi-Egg (5 cards):

*Price/card* *Prices are from TCGPlayer*

Main Deck (50 Cards):

*Price/card and Prices are from TCGPlayer* **Price is based on Flower Cannon that was with ST09**

Deck Breakdown

Suspend, Suspend, Suspend!

The main focus of the deck is to suspend your opponents Digimon to make your Digimon more powerful. Added Flower Cannon and Cherry Blast to be some decent Options to help either suspend 1 Digimon or multiple Digimon. The other tool this deck has the ‘When Digivolving’ effects that the Rapidmon (BT08-039 and EX02-027) and MegaGargomon (EX02-029 and BT03-057) allow you to suspend at least 1 of your opponents Digimon. Most of the effects and inherited effects give your mon additional DP to make them hit harder but cards like MegaGargomon (EX02-029) allows you to once per turn you can use a “When Attacking” effect of spending one of your opponents with DP equal to or less then it’s DP to their hand.

Digivolution made easy:

Since there are a lot of cards in this deck with a ‘When Digivolving’ effect, we will need some cards to help with getting the cards I need and lowering the cost of Digivolving. Cards like Terriermon (BT8-046) has a ‘On Play’ effect of looking at the top 5 cards of your deck and adding 1 card with Rapidmon or Gargomon in their name. For lowering the price of Digivolution, we have cards like Blue Card which allows you look at the top 5 cardsof your deck and Digivolve one of your non-white Digimon on your field into one of the Digimon among those cards without paying the cost. Another option card we are using is Digivolution Plug-In S, where you can digivolve into a Digimon with a Digivolution cost of 3 or less without paying the cost to Digivolve.

Conclusion

EX02 gave the Terriermon line a well needed boost and the ability to build a deck where it is the star. Think this is a better built deck balance wise and makes descent . As always, I recommend you go to the official website (link here) to check for any Errata and the Q&A sections to make sure you are using the cards correctly. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully you join me next time as the next deck we build will be more machine like. Until next time; Stay Safe, Be Kind and Game On!
